Our story
Like many children of the 80s, Simon (our cuesmith) discovered snooker on TV, becoming fascinated by the famous players of the day. Playing on his own 6ft table with his 'Steve Davis' cue and experiencing the simple joy of potting balls, snooker eventually evolved into a lifelong passion.
Although he stopped playing in his teens, he continued to love the game and remained an avid watcher. Snooker physically re-entered Simon’s life when he achieved his ambition of watching the professional game live. Visiting the Masters at Ally Pally in 2022 proved to be a turning point - one that led him back to the table to play again and eventually into the workshop.
What started as simple maintenance on his own cue quickly became maintenance for friends and other players at his local club. Jobs grew in complexity from tip changes and ferrule replacements to full cue refurbishments. But there was one thing he really wanted to know - could he make a cue from scratch and would it play and be as well made as the professional one he already owned?
After countless hours of testing, learning, improving and investing in quality tools, the answer was yes. The passion for the game, the joy of the craft and the satisfaction that came with creating these beautiful products all came together, and Vantage Cues was born.
Today, Simon combines his understanding of the game with precision craftsmanship, creating cues that are built to perform, feel right in the hand, and become part of each player’s own snooker journey.
